A Challenge..............I have given myself a challenge...to complete 5 quilt tops (or does one call them flimsies) into completed quilts by the end of July.....I would like to put out a challenge to other quilters who may be like me and have the odd one or two flimsies lying around.....if you would like to participate in my challenge I will add you name to a link on my side bar...so we can all watch your progress...and be inspired....I would like to encourage you to do postings about your progress, you can forward photos to me and I will also post these on my blog......if there is a story as to why this has not been completed, lets compare stories........I will have a prize at the end of the challenge, it may go to the person who has done the most....or it may be a lucky draw...(with the bingo machine).....there could be a couple of prizes, still working on that one......
I hope you will join me in this challenge...even if you only finish one....that means another one bites the dust..........
the Challenge will finish midnight the 31 July 2008....so that is about 6 weeks give or take.....
Take care... Peg ... :>) ....
5 projects before the end on June ?
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a try :-)
Let me see - 2 quilt tops are ready for quilting - the advent calendar should be doable too, a draw string bag before the 18th this month, maybe a drag of an old tote too, before the end of the months.
Yep - I am in :-)
End of JUne...you are kidding...pheeww...Oh no...can´t speed myself up to this...I think...;D HAve rather big things to finish up...another time maybe!!
ReplyDeleteBut Good luck to you all!!
Well not sure about 5 quilts but getting 5 wips done would be pretty good for me.........
ReplyDeleteDoes sending them to the longarmer count? LOL!
ReplyDeleteCount me in please Peg!
ReplyDeleteDoes something half quilted that is collecting dust count????
and the binding - does the binding have to be completly sewn on???? The hand sewing of this slows me up something terrible....

I think I,ll hang on to this Peg. I have 2 andvent calenders the blue and grey, the city quilt and the teaddy bears. That make four.I also have my family garden. an UFO for many years. I do my best. photos will be taken.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Peg, this is a fabulous challenge. This might be just the gentle push I need to quilt a flimsy or two. Please add my name to your list. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood, I need to be challenged to get something finished! Don't have a blog but still would like to be part of this. I have soooo many half done tops. Six weeks is 48 days!
ReplyDeleteI am taking a bit of a blog posting break so this is a good time to finish some things. Please count me in!
ReplyDeleteI have my summer swap quilt and another 24inch quilt to do by end July. If I add my chenille bag that will make three things for me. Oh and 4 mug mats to finish. OK, I'll join thanks.
ReplyDeleteWell, with vacation coming up and still quilting customers quilts, I am not sure. But I do have a few tops that I could maybe sneak in there, so I'm game! If it doesn't happen, I only have myself to blame.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge. I would love to participate but I think I would fall short. I have lots of smaller projects I am working on...can I do them instead?
ReplyDeleteI would love to be a part of this! End of July would be a reasonable time...I just need to organize the list of things to do in my head and see where to start!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I need to do this! I have a cupboard full of stuff needing a finish. I am in!
ReplyDeleteI will join in to finish 2 :O)... I think I can do that LOL...and like you say that will be 2 done that were not! Fun :O)
ReplyDeleteadd me too please!
ReplyDeleteDear Peg I would love to join your challenge.
ReplyDeleteLove Dale
Count me in I have lots of flimsies that need to be finnished. The end of July should be plenty of time. But, 5 is a big number but I need to get some motivation.
ReplyDeleteWill try leaving a comment again ... got an error message. Anyway, count me in! At first, I thought there was no way to finish 5 by the date and then I started looking around at what was there and, you know, I just might be able to accomplish a few. A challenge is good for motivation and I will play along!
ReplyDeleteGreat challenge you are having on your blogg. I am sorry say that Ihave already sign up for Eileens Attic s summer challenge.
ReplyDeleteBut I will still follow your challege on you blogg. Good luck and take care..
Hi Peg
ReplyDeleteThis sounds scary, but count me in.
Hopefully I have a few done by the end of July ;-D
This is usually what I need to finish something :o)

Hugs, Yvonne
Count me in, we will see at the end of July what I have accomplished. I sure will try.
ReplyDeletePeg I just read your email a little closer. Count me in to your challenge. I will "AIM" to get my PJ quilt (from ridgecrest) finished and my Spring Fling. That's two! That's a good start for ME!?xx
ReplyDeleteHi Peg
ReplyDeleteI'm in too - maybe 3 quilts finished and a large part of "Sharon's Roses" done.
Hi Peg,
ReplyDeleteThanks for organising your group to have an extra sewing day so Tanya and I could join in yesterday. It was so nice to sit with all your lovely ladies and be part of your wonderful group if only for a very short time.
I really think Tanya should take up this challenge, I machined sewed on 6 bindings for her last night so all she has to do is hand stitch them down.
Happy stitching
Kerry
Hi peg, I would love to have a go at your challenge and also have 5 ufo done by the end of july. So count me in as well. Thank you
ReplyDeletekez
I'd like to participate in a modified way, if that's okay. My goal will be to have five Works In Slow Progress completed to Flimsy stage by the end of July. If this modification is permissible, please sign me up!

ReplyDeleteDo we have to list what we want to work on.

I would love to be in the challenge, but quilting is very hard for me at the moment. But put me in and I would at least try to finish few.
ReplyDeleteKerri has joined, so I had better give it a shot too. Now I just have to work out which five things to finish in my growing pile of half done things. Julie.
ReplyDeleteHi Peg, this is my first visit to your blog.. I found you through Darlene. I'll be back to visit for sure!
ReplyDeleteI cannot possibly imagine finishing 5 quilts in six weeks.. I am WAY too slow. But I just want to let anyone know who has already signed up for our Summer Stash Challenge, you can certainly use this as one of your Five to Finish! So don't let that stop you! :) This is a great challenge.
Okay - I'm in - I don't have many UFO's laying around, but I have for sure 5 (or 6 or 7).
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Kris

ReplyDeleteHi Peg,
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try for 4 things by the end of July, but I will admit, I'm going to cheat a bit because mine are ones that are either 50% or more quilted, or ARE quilted and are just waiting for the binding to be hand sewn down. Is this alright?
Yes, I can do this! I think I can , I think, I can....
ReplyDeleteI will add the challenge to my next blog.
Count me in for the challenge. I've got 4 tops ready for quilting, so now I've just got to come up with one more. I can do that!

ReplyDeleteKindest regards,
AllyJo
I would love to be in the challenge. It would be wonderful if I could finish 5 so I can start 5 more. LOL. Is it too late to start up in the challenge? sew~amy

ReplyDeleteplease add me.
now when you say finish 5 quilt tops does that mean 5 pieced, quilted and bound quilts?? or just quilt tops??
thanks julie
I saw this over on Ruthie's blog and am going to jump off the cliff. I don't think I will finish 5 as I have a ton of socks that need finished by the end of July as well. But I'm gonna give it the old college try! Currently I can think of 3 that I should be able to get done. And like you said that is better than none.
