Preparation.....

I have quilted two small baby quilts and this is the next one on my list.....I am using Fusible wadding, which is fusible both sides....this is made by Matilda's Own..(I think).. it is 80% cotton and 20% polyester, very nice to use especially if you are a little time poor, as it is very quick...place the backing onto the floor tape down very securely.....place your wadding on the top, smooth out, then place your quilt top down, the instruction is to pin down, not with safety pins, but I really don't think this is necessary, with your stream iron just press......remove masking tape...usually you need to turn over and give the back a press as well, no need to use any masking tape this time.....and it is very nice to quilt, similar to cotton wadding.... Peg ... :>) ...

  1. That sounds great! I have trouble crawling around the floor basting quilts. (old highland dancer knees)
Have heard about a spray but have not been game to try, but iron-on wadding sounds much easier! Less crawling! Thank you for the tip! Cathy

  2. Oh, Gosh, Peg, you are so fast!
This quilt is very beautiful. I'd love to see what kind of quilting design that you'll use for this quilt. :-)

  3. Thanks for sharing the operation/instructions.
Great idea, I would just have to borrow someones large floor area as my house isn't that big.

  4. I've never tried this method before . . . but I do enjoy using spray glue. I've never learned how to pin *s*

  5. Isn´t it stiff because of the glue or does it wash out?

  6. Sounds like great stuff. I have successfully used fusible wadding but it was only fusible on one side. This sounds even better. Will try and find some. Thanks for the info.

  7. I bought some fusible wadding last week, I don’t know if it’s fusible on both sides. Thanks for your tutorial! What gloves do you wear when you quilt on the machine? (Did you receive my e-mail about our swap?) Have a wonderful week!

  9. I love the fusible wadding too very much. I use it on all the quilts that are no bigger than 1.50 meter otherwise I think the hassle is a bit to much.
