Another little project, but I do have a small problem…..when I rinsed out my stitchery to remove the pen that I had used, the thread ran…so I have debated with myself, weather I should finish it or not…I decided that I would, …I just need to sew down the bind, once that is done I will show you the finished item…….The stitchery is a Gail Pan design….

After all your hard work, I think it is worth finishing. And I agree with Michell, after another wash the remaining color run might well disappear. Good luck :)
Lovely stitchery Peg. I had the same thing happen recently, and I think we notice it more ourselves. I agree with the girls, another rinse and carry on. It's too cute to abandon.
Hi Peg you could always try tea dying it to disguise the colour... maybe try a herbal tea to get a different colour :O)
What a shame as it looks lovely...tea stain it and you may not notice it...never wet overdyed threads!
Its a beautiful stitchery - shame about the colour running. Hope you finish it. Try washing it when finished with some "colour catch"

The stitchery is lovely and looks so good I. The variegated thread. Tea dying is a great option or you could try washing it again a product called Run Away, or something simiilar. it's available in the laundry section of supermarkets.

I think tea dying is a great idea. I have used Runaway and it does work but it has the most horrid smell. I've heard greek yogurt works too.

Just give it another wash with colourcatch. Of course you shall finish it
Peg that happen to me last year and I went to woolworths and brought some colour catches, you get ten sheet in a pack just pop one in you water with your project and watch it do its work , they are great for every one to have in there laundry cubbet. They have no brand name they are just called, (So Gentle Colour catcher).
It is beautiful Peg. You always make the best stitcheries. Like you I have had my yarn bleed too. I wish it were mentioned on the package that it needs to be pre washed like fabrics.

Gorgeous stitchery Peg, definitely worth finishing, and using some of the methods mentioned, very redeemable. In places it looks like you have used a paint wash or crayons or pencils to colour it delicately.
It is such a pretty stitchery.... that happened to me too but on a very small thing... I have now prewashed that offending thread. I do agree with the others that it is redeemable...

Oh what a shame Peg...I have no clue and have read with interest all the tips from other clever stitchers. I do hope it can be remedied as it is so gorgeous. Good luck with it all.

Lovely stitchery, and yes I think you should definately finish it. Yes maybe try colour catch cloths or tea dye, what do you have to loose.

Even if the thread did ran, I would finish it. Perhaps you should try to soak it in a bit warm water and use a color catcher thing once more? I got a tips about these variengated threads once, and that was to soak them in water before I use them, and add a little bit of vinegar with the water. Then just lay them on a towel to dry. The vinegar will set the colors and prevent it from bleeding again. I learned this from Gail Pan when she teached the class I attended here in Norway a while ago.
I love this stitchery, and got a lot of these threads to, they are really gorgeous!

Maybe another wash will fix it if not Michelle's idea of a herbal tea dye may work.
Listen, if you can't get the stain out with tea, give up. You will hate it anyway because of the stain. Start something new and forget about it girl. Life's too short!!
