I have just completed my third BOM - Lynette Anderson's Noah's Ark.....and look what I have done....I have used a different background fabric for the first block, they are both mottled but the first lot is slightly lighter.... the photo looks worse that what it is.....will have to find some of the original background that I used and do alternate blocks....or I will have to redo it, maybe I will just do that.....oh dear.......what a bummer......
Take Care ...Peg...
Why not do alternate blocks and then use a really fun sashing to pull it all together?
ReplyDeleteThe stitcheries look like so much fun!
or maybe you could tea dye the block? just an idea, but I like the idea of mixing the backgrounds too.
ReplyDeleteyeah tea or coffee dye or even get some coffee essence from the shop, any of these should dye the 1st block. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteNot a problem Peg - alternate the blocks and it'll be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhy not dye it in tea or coffe.
ReplyDeleteIt dosent have to be all the same. This is your way making the quilt. You can make alternate the blocks and no one can say it is wrong. You find out what to do Peg that make you satisfied
ReplyDeleteI don't mind it in the different shades...Maybe just wait and see how it looks in the end. I would do some with the lighter material and mix it up a little. looking good though. Jo x
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking tea dye or coffee. Very sweet blocks.
ReplyDeleteDo not make new ones...alternate the backgrouds... I do that all the time..have different backgrounds... It add a lot of life inthe quilts...just try it out!! It will be great!
ReplyDeleteOh NO! Will you really do it again? Lucky it's only small. They all look lovely. I think I've tried to download them but it hasn't worked. I'm off to try again. I just love them.
ReplyDeleteoh boy I was behind I love them different block colors. Just do a couple of hte first one,,,
ReplyDeleteI agree... do them in different backgrounds. Really nice blocks! They sure are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI think that I am with the majority. Definitely do them with alternate blocks and it will look totally planned and a definite one of a kind quilt!! You are at least farther ahead than I am, only part of my cows are complete.
ReplyDeleteMix in a couple of more fabrics and it will look very cute!
ReplyDeleteYeah peg, why not alternate the blocks!! Would still look great!!

I would use a few of the lighter backgrounds scattered throughout the quilt to add some interest and a bit of sparkle! Sometimes these happy accidents can really make a quilt!
ReplyDeletejust the sort of thing I would do. I would use another different background so that you have3. Aren't they gorgeous I am doing this too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they all have to be the same....do some more in the lighter colour or any other colour you choose....it will look great - whichever way you do it! I am thinking I need to sign up for your challenge....found your blog thru Chooky Blue....
