A weekend finish…a little thread catcher…
and a parcel in the post for a friends birthday…
Now I have a question……
When you are hand stitching…do you have a little container, basket, bag, folder to contain your project….
I have several similar to the one above which I have for each of my projects….they hold my scissors, threads, small pin cushion, and any other bits and pieces I may need…usually they are big enough to hold my project as well, I find they are so easy to cart around from room to room, I seem to be kicked out of our lounge room a lot, my DH tells me this is were the ‘sporting TV lives’…LOL…
I would love to hear what you use !!!!!!!!…

I have a plastic foolscap document box that holds everything. I got it from one of the cheap shops.
ReplyDeleteMorning Peg! I have a few little cane/wicker baskets. I have a bit of a thing for these types of baskets, however now being in a smaller house I've often thought some "baskets" that could collapse when not in use would be handy.....maybe along the lines of what you've made!
ReplyDeleteMy patterns are in plastic A4 folders & if the project fits in there i use those.If not the whole lot gets put into a patchwork bag. Hugs,xx

ReplyDeleteI chop and change..at the moment I am enjoying cheap plastic stationary envelopes that I can see through and put in my threads and fabric for a specific project... I have a little bag with needlecase, scissors etc that should be attached to me permanently...

What a strange question.....doesn't everyone have a multitude of bags, baskets, pouches and folders for all their different projects? I am very guilty of it. And lots of little thread catchers all over the house (for those threads that aren't on my clothes!).

ReplyDeleteWell Peg, Iam a bit of a messer and use the side table but I think I will make one of those little baskets.. Love the colours in that one. Really beautiful things on your recent blogs.
ReplyDeleteI have a fabric 'to go' bag that is always packed and ready 'to go', baskets with projects organized in them so all I have to do is grab whatever I'm in the mood to work on, and lots of plastic bags!

ReplyDeleteI am a bit of an organisational nutter.
All my projects are in a container of some sort. the hand stitching ones are in deep A4 plastic document things - (available at the japese cheap shops these days) each one has a pair of scissors and some needles and usually a hoop. the machine projects go in cheap tupperware type containers (Reject Shop) and all are labelled so I know which one is which.
Too much detail? Not saying how many I have though.
When am not working on them the bits and pieces are all kept together, mostly in big zip lock bags, in tubs. It's when they are in progress things get messy, lol. Stitchy only projects are in hard plastic skinny document boxes. I am slowly working on making a collection of quilted folders holding a needle book for my threads/needle, and a pair of scissors- for assembled blocks for stitching. I find a woman can never have too many pairs of little scissors- they hide! LOL I don't do baskets, what I want always disappears to the bottom, lol. Cute basket :)
