We nave gone “SOLAR”…about 2 years ago our hot water system died so we installed solar hot water…that is the cylinder in the first photo….then a while back we decided to convert the rest of the house to solar..so here it is….we have always had ‘huge’ electricity bills, even with just the two of us in the house…we have an in ground pool and the cost of running that is not cheap…so fingers crossed we are hoping we can save a bit of money….so now we have 14 panels, 7 on two sides of the house plus the hot water solar panel……lets hope we have done the right thing…!!!!!

Happy Friday, take care, keep safe

  3. I hope it pays off for you - though it will take a while - but the other upside is that at least you are helping the environment a bit. Keep us posted.

  4. We also have always had big power bills and have been thinking of going the same way as you. Like Shez i will be very interested in how it works out for you. iether way i will be happy to pay for warmth in the winter, air conditioning in the summer, and the privelege of the easier life that power gives us (I am way past being a pioneering type now!!.

  8. Of course you have! And you will be able to have your air conditioner chugging away as well.

  9. We went solar (3.5kw system) last year, our first power bill - 2 months with the solar and 1 month without, was about $58, the next one should be lower still or maybe a credit. Don't forget it you are lucky enough to get a large credit the electricity companies won't give it back to you unless you ask for it.
There is just the 2 of us in our household, no pool, but we use our evaporative aircon a bit when it is hot.

  11. We have had our "little" 1.44 solar system and solar hot water for over 3 years and have been happy even with what it produces. We do have more panels in our shed waiting to be added to it to make it about a 3 kW system. Because we both work from home power usage is reasonably high (basically household plus office - making a double premises) so any saving is helpful. Systems are a lot less expensive now than they were 2 or 3 years ago.

  13. We have solar and it has been good reducing the bill but will take a few years to recoup the initial cost. We have also had it stop a couple of times and had to have it looked at. In the meantime, you lose that power. You need to keep an eye on the panel to make sure the green light is on so I try to check it regularly. I feel it is better to have it than not. Hugs.....

  15. I looked into solar panels and I was told by an installer, "unless I stay at home most days, it would not be worth my while"... so I make sure I turn all unused power points off all the time.

  16. Let us know how it works out....

  17. We're the same Peg...3 of us and always bills of $800+ a quarter....we put solar panels on late last year...the first bill didn't show much difference...about $70 savings...hoping the next one shows a difference! we've just been informed they're putting power bills up 21.4% soon....grrrrr :/

  19. Many of the models of calculators are an auto turn off; one who is working has to keep the calculator non-operating for a few seconds to turn it off, and some can be switched off by closing their lid. Some of the calculators are provided with the power off button. The displays of Calculators are liquid crystal displays. Some of the modern calculators are provided with memory cards and make the calculator able to store data. The storage capacity can be increased by putting the memory cards with large storage space. Initially many of the schools allowed their students to use calculators for solving their mathematical problems but many of the parents and teachers opposed this idea of allowing calculator in schools because they thought that the students will then totally rely on calculators. There was an agreement made that the students will be allowed to use the calculators only after when they attain proficiency in solving the sums themselves. After a brief research it was proved that calculator restrict the mathematical thinking power of the children’s and lack mathematical problem solving skills.
