This was the kit that we received for our quilting day…..
And these are my purchases …I was very good….I am using one of the pre filled bobbins now with my “practising”….apparently they contain three times as much thread as the ones you fill yourself…does any one else use these!!!! and the amazing tape I am going to put around my threads to keep them all neat and tidy, I do have a rack, but I threads hanging everywhere…

I find the amazing tape very useful. I do use BottomLine or Bobbin thread a fair but - but not the pre wound ones - if white is the colour you need they are very handy.

Very responsible shopping Peg and all very useful goodies. I use bobbin fill for machine embroidery - I wonder if it's similar to what is on your new bobbins.

Great goodies Peg. I have never used the prefilled bobbins on my sewing machine, but I have used them with my embroidery machine.

ReplyDeleteI use the madiera pre-wound bobbins all the time and although they are white, it is subtle as the thread is so fine. Just a warning about the titanium needles. I bought some in Brisbane off Pauline at the Fair in October last year and the first week I used them I broke a needle which shouldn't cause too much of a issue but the needle being so strong, broke the position bracket it hit below the plate and cost me $140 to fix....not a happy camper, the needles didn't save me any money for staying sharp longer, which is why I bought them...... I tossed them out......
ReplyDeleteI use the bobbinfill prewounds all the time Peg....have been for years....have been told they're only supposed to be used for machine embroideries so it doesn't bulk up too much, but I've used it for piecing and everything!!!! Never had a problem...the best stuff! Used it on my son's quilt...he's had it on his bed 5 years and it gets washed regularly.....never ever weakened or failed me! Love it!

I saw the title of your blog post, and had to laugh. I thought, gosh if that just doesn't describe everything about quilting for me. A BIT MORE, fabric I need (not really) A BIT MORE, batting I need (not really), A BIT MORE thread I need (not really).. but all of it I want all the time for no true purpose other than that I know I will eventually use it...someday!!! right??????
