This is my current stitching project…A Rosalie Quinlan design…..”Free As A Bird”..
I have tried the Pilot Frixion pens for tracing the design onto the fabric, not bad at all, easy to use….
but, you must remember to iron on your stabilizer first, then trace the design..LOL
Yesterday I mentioned my Kobo reader….when I exercise (I try to do this morning and night for 20 mins, should be more but it is better than nothing) I listen to Audio Books….I am quite addicted, I received some great book ideas yesterday, anyone have some suggestions for audio books…I like nice long ones and I do enjoy sequels…..thanks….

ReplyDeleteI have heard some not so good stuff about the pens leaving the chemical in the fabric and it eventually eating away at the fabric. Not sure so will have to wait and see because they are lovely to use
ReplyDeleteI have these pens too, and am a concerned about the issue De brought up....I don't think I would use them on an heirlooom - not that I make many of them LOL I wonder if the residue washes out eventually?
ReplyDeleteI have also heard if you put your project in the freezer the pen marks will reappear. Not that we store quilts there but if you accidently iron it this might be how to get around retracing your design.
Lovely stitching, I havn't tried the pens either, kind of stick with what I know works for me. Impressed by your committment to exercising each day, something I'm not good at. Haha.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute design Peg! I too use the Frixion pens, I trace my design, [I use DARK lines] then iron on my interfacing. There's a heart-stopping moment when all the lines go away, lol, but then I put it in a baggie and stick it in the freezer for an hour or two. The lines come back [a bit fainter, but they can be re-traced, you can see them] and then I start stitching! So far I've only used them on white fabric, I've heard they can leave white lines behind.
ReplyDeleteBooks - any Agatha Christie, love them all. There's a series of books out by Richard Paul Evans, the first one is The Walk, the second is Miles To Go - only two so far, but more to come! Love them!
Peg your stitching looks lovely . I would be lost without my books on tape . Just about to start listening to a Lisa Gardener , yes trashy but easy .

ReplyDeleteAs I like historical fiction a couple of good books that I have listened to recently were Fishing for Stars by Bryce Courtney and Silver Wattle by Belinda Alexander. I am currently listening to Mao's last Dancer, and have enjoyed a number of books by Tara Moss.
Beautiful stitching, I will have to try the pens, great idea about reading books while exercising.

ReplyDeleteLooks great Peg. I love the red work. Now for Audio Books. We got Tara Moss books for James at the Library before. She writes murder mysteries and the books follow on from each other. She reads them too but her sexy voice probably won't effect you like James LOL!
